    Superb lens

Still getting to know it and I've not used it in poor light conditions but early indications are very positive. Super sharp at all focal lengths. Focuses quickly and accurately. Stabilisation works exceptionally well with Panasonic GX8. Extremely light considering its reach. Focussing distance is greater than I am used to for close ups but I'm adapting and using the zoom instead. Very, very pleased with it.

    Superb quality lens

This lens has not disappointed. The construction quality is superb and it feels very robust. It is still early days but the optical quality seems to be everything you would expect from a lens at this price. The bonus, when used with the GH5, is the internal image stabiliser which, when used in conjunction with the camera's own, gives astonishingly good results. Highly recommended, if you can afford it.

    Surprisingly good

This is a really amazing lens. It is relatively compact for a lens covering the full-frame equivalent of 200-800mm. Focus speed on my Olympus E-M10 Mark II is very fast, even at the full 400mm telephoto. Image Quality is excellent between 100-300mm, and very good at 400mm. Turning the zoom can be quite stiff particularly in the 300mm to 400mm zoom range. The supplied tripod collar and foot is not Arca-Swiss compatible which would have been preferable and to standardise. Despite the little niggles the Panasonic 100-400mm is probably the lens currently for enthusiast birdwatchers and wildlife photography, and even professionals who may want the much reduced weight, lower cost, and extended reach of a 800mm lens in a very transportable package compared to APS-C or Full Frame camera equipment. This lens on Olympus or Panasonic Micro Four Thirds camera systems is a sweet spot for many enthusiasts.

Best mirrorless wildlife lens on M43

When you need the reach of a long telephoto this lens is exceptional. I've been shooting mirrorless for a while now with the excellent Sony A7RII which is fantastic for most things specially wide to shot telephoto, landscapes and portraits, everything really ... except birding and wildlife. I have been disappointed with Sony's availability of great native telephoto lenses specifically for birds. A friend of mine started shooting recently with an Olympus EM10-II .. I was so impressed with his results and easy of getting in close with a relatively compact kit. Even if Sony had a long telephoto, 800mm on full frame would be excessively massive in both physical size and on my wallet, and the benefits of the Micro Four Thirds system with 2x crop factor becomes apparent. This 100-400mm is the ultimate birding or wildlife setup when shooting with either Panasonic or Olympus and probably is the best wildlife lens / combination currently available. - Highly recommended.
