Product Description

The Panasonic Leica DG Nocticron 42.5mm f/1.2 Power O.I.S Lens (H-NS043E) is a ultra high speed, metallic telephoto lens for Micro Four thirds (MFT) mount cameras. At f/1.2 aperture and an equivalent focal length of 85mm this lens is great for portraiture, giving shallow depth of field for separating the subject frrom the background and impressive out-of-focus bokeh. Additionally, the inclusion of a newly developed stepping motor makes the focusing action smooth and silent. Furthermore you will be able to take advantage of the high precision, high speed contrast AF system available on many Lumix G cameras.

The Leica DG Nocticron 42.5mm f/1.2 Power O.I.S Lens is suitable for both Panasonic, Black Magic & Olympus cameras. Filter Size: 67mm

    Incredible lens

The Panasonic Nocticron 42.5mm f1.2 is well worth the price tag. Be aware that it is large lens for the m43 system, but this should be expected for a f1.2, but the results ... oh the results it gives .... tt opens a whole new realm of sublimely wonderful looking image possibilities.

The speed and accuracy of this lens is just superb, and blows away the notion of sluggishness you would expect to get with Canon or Nikon f1.2 lens offerings from the past. There are still users who dismiss the Micro Four Thirds systems as amateurish toys, well I say give them an Olympus or Pana body and put this lens on, it will make them think again. In fact now I have this baby I almost feel sorry for the people who haven't got a m43 system!

The image quality is simply superb. I really cannot praise the image quality highly enough. The rendering it produces is in another league, even compared to the excellent Olympus 75mm f1.8 which is in no doubt a fantastic lens. This Nocticron though is just different, it's artistic in a way that most lenses (and all that I have tried) simply cannot match... and the bokeh, oh the bokeh ... simply beautiful. This lens delivers a razor sharp image right from f1.2 and the background just melts away into super smooth softness which, of course, is the main purpose for buying this lens, and certainly does not disappoint.

The sharpness, colour, contrast, and that renowned "Leica look" are all there. This lens is wonderful for low light shooting, including night-time street photography, or of course any portrait work. Coupled with the fast and accurate AF there is just nothing like it that I have come across. The build quality and stabilization are also top notch as you would expect. In jpeg or RAW (where most users would be shooting) it's stunning with RAW files showing every detail this lens can produce.

In conclusion its probably the best lens that I own, and will own in any camera format.
