Two New Powershot cameras from Canon, SX40HS and S100.

The Canon Powershot SX40 HS is the latest incarnation of their superzoom 'bridge' camera. The robust body incorporates a powerful 35 x optical zoom lens and the new 12 megapixel back-illuminated CMOS sensor. Features include a 2.7" high quality LCD which is articualted for viewing preference, a 1080P video recording mode, and a high speed continuous shooting capability.

The new premuim compact is named as the Canon Powershot S100. This model features a 1/1.7" large sensor and a 5x optical zoom lens. Other notable included features are a 3.0" 460-dot high resolution LCD, Ful HD movie mode and manual overrides such as aperure and shutter speed selection. It will be available in two colour options, black and silver.

Both models are due this autumn, the Powershot SX40 due end of October and the Powershot S100 is due early November.
